We wouldn’t survive life, let alone wedding planning, without this crew. Meet the bridesmaids, flower men, and groomsmen who are carrying this wedding on their backs. Here’s how they remember us (for better or for chaos).
Our PEOPLE
Her Crew
Shruti chakke - Maid of Honor
“That late-afternoon trip to Martha’s Vineyard that started as the perfect beach day. We were living our best lives—sunbathing like starfish, getting questionably uneven tans, attempting sandcastles that absolutely did not survive the tide, and swimming like we were auditioning for a mermaid movie.
And then… the ocean tried to rob us.
Everything was calm, and we were too busy having fun in the ocean to notice the high tide creeping in. By the time we came back to shore, all our landmarks were gone and we had no idea where anything was. After a very confused search, we finally found our bags half in the water, seconds away from floating off.
It’s my fav core mem with you. Yk why? Bc I could literally lose my keys, phone and wallet, but as long as I got you, I’ll be A-okay.”
Heather Lavin - Bridesmaid
“One of my fave mems with Khadijah was either when we went to Jersey Shore Science Fair and presented our boards there or when she came to visit me a couple years ago and we went through our senior year yearbook giggling at what we wrote and seeing how far we’ve come”
Lauren hutnik - Bridesmaid
“Bopping around Khadijah’s room in college and snuggling in the bed, same thing w our grad room and bouncing off the walls cackling to some inside joke, hitting the top of the campus center to study n bool around.”
MYISHA NAWAR - BRIDESMAID
“My favorite memory with the gorgeous bride-to-be is of a sleepover when we played detective, therapist and exorcist (Jimmy the demon cat) all at once. Jimmy, my roommate‘s cat who we are very sure was possessed, kept chasing us back to my room everytime we went outside (bye bye snacks from the kitchen). So while barricaded in a small Manhattan room Deej and I had the longest, deepest (and cringiest) conversations which ended up bringing us closer than ever. So here we are - tiktok to core mem sleepover to standing by each other as we step into this next phase of life. And I wouldn’t have it any other way. Cheers to Jimmy the demon cat I guess”
VINAYA THADHANI - BRIDESMAID
“Khadijah and I became best friends in college, surviving everything from learning to longboard to screaming “Young, Wild & Free” off a parking deck like it was free therapy. We spent 11+ hours studying in cubicles next to each other (with me distracting her every 20 minutes), but the real magic was staying up late trying to make sense of our ever-changing lives filled with academic despair, questionable decisions, and stupid jokes. Through it all, she’ll always be the Mermaid Man to my Barnacle Boy.”
AADIL HAQUE - FLOWER MAN
“My fav mem is trying to teach Khadijah how to parallel park while she was crying”
dishen patel - FLOWER MAN
“My introduction to Khadijah felt like meeting a ball of energy in a tiny container. I walked into Chem110 lab and her laugh cut through the room; anyone who knows her understands exactly what I mean. Chats turned into rooftop talks, and rooftop talks turned into long drives with music that only we understand how to match. We’ve watched each other grow up in all the small ways, like her pushing and dragging us to study, her laughing at my sand volleyball obsession, and me yelling ‘look, the Nun!’ after the horror movie and watching her scream like the whole car was haunted.”
His Crew
KAUSHAL VERMA - BEST MAN
“NGL there are way too many memories that I would love to share but I can’t. A set of core memories are definitely all the impromptu hangouts in Sohail’s basement, from getting caught playing FIFA instead of studying for APUSH by Sohail’s mom and getting pop-quizzed on the spot. We both failed and I was immediately sent home. Then the sleepovers where we barely slept, figured out new ways to use his fan, and stayed up all night playing Zombies, FIFA, and 2K. And of course, not to forget Sohail’s mom’s famous jalapeño pasta.”
ABDULLAH SHAREEF - GROOMSMAN
“When we were kids we took MMA classes. Sohail’s ultimate move when we grappled was to sit on me. It never failed.”
ALEX - GROOMSMAN
“One of my fav memories with Sohail was when we were playing soccer our senior year and getting absolutely destroyed by east Brunswick I think and we were down like 12-0 or something. Our coach lost all hope and then put me and Sohail in as attackers. Keep in mind Sohail always played defense. So we went in not expecting much but I got the ball on the wing and i don’t even remember looking over, I just blindly passed the ball into the box and this goat Sohail read my mind and slammed the ball into the corner of the net and scored. We still lost terribly but I still remember it cause we celebrated like we won a final or something lol.”
DAN - GROOMSMAN
“My wholesome memory is spending hours and hours studying at the library with Sohail and other friends at Rutgers, and after we’d usually get food and hang out.”
ERNEST LIN - GROOMSMAN
“Sohail saved my life by sacrificing his Corolla (iykyk)”
JOSH - GROOMSMAN
“Playing fifa for hours after studying, exploring rich neighborhoods on late night drives that we could only dreamed of affording, and experiencing our first taste of emergency medicine being partners in EMS”
kailash raja - groomsman
“We met 13 years ago when you skipped freshman soccer tryouts and took my number. Still a little sore about it but here we are all this time later. I still think you’re a thief.”
PAOLO - GROOMSMAN
“We went skiing/snowboarding in denver, we followed each other and weaved through the trees going down a slope”
PRASHANT - GROOMSMAN
“Practicing Muay Thai with Sohail in a dollar slice store after a rock concert in Brooklyn”
viktor - GROOMSMAN
“I remember one of the first times I met Sohail I thought to myself ‘wow this guy is so put together and such an easy person to talk to, he’s got everything figured out!’. Then the next time we hung out he ended the night passed out on the bathroom floor with his pants ripped across his butt. That’s when I truly got to know him, and honestly it made me like him even more.”
ZUHAIB - GROOMSMAN
“In high school, I once took a green teddybear, Hornswaggle, from Sohail on the promise that I’d take good care of him. 10 years later, I still squeeze Hornswaggle to sleep every single night.”
